I like to read. I didn't used to.. when I was younger I despised it. I'd much rather play a video game or watch cartoons than sit down and read quietly. When I grew older, Harry Potter was such an interesting series that I would open one and not put it down until I was finished. It was kind of incredible.. actually having an interest in reading.

Lately I've read romance novels. I had a stack to move through , and I started with Jennifer Crusie's "Bet Me", which like Harry Potter I had a hard time putting down. It had romance, suspense, a bit of a mystery.. and I was surprised to realize I actually enjoyed it.

Once it was time to move on to the next book, I searched the stack for another Crusie novel and found "Getting Rid of Bradley". It had the same pull, the mystery and romance, as well as the suspense that scared me just a bit. Good book, but I was getting used to her style and almost bored with it as well. I wasn't sure what I'd want to read next.

My next few books were all Crusie novels.. "What the Lady Wants", "Charlie All Night", "Tell Me Lies", "Welcome To Temptation", "Fast Women", and "Faking It". Since I wasn't sure I even liked her writing, I'm somewhat surprised I was able to make it through so many of her novels so fast.. even almost knowing what was going to happen next, or how things might play out.

Now, I've read all of the Jennifer Crusie novels from the stack, and I'm trying to move onto the other authors, getting too bored one by one. When you read as little as I do, I guess it takes a lot to prove what 'liking' an author really is.

If you haven't read one of her novels, do it! They're lots of fun. I think I might just throw the rest of the stack out and buy the rest of her books.

Sorry. I'm bad at keeping up with things.. like blogging. We've kept ourselves busy. I play Guild Wars a lot, I still make cards, posting pictures in my Style Diary, watching hours of tennis, but mainly I'm just working on getting my life on track.

Ebraunnagel is making several bags, working with vinyl for the first time. :) She's busy experimenting with new styles of bags, projects old and new. Also, she's making more wearable items too - if you haven't seen her skirts, you're missing out! She made me a gorgeous one a few months ago, I'll have to take pictures later. I really like this one also.

Crafts aside, I really want to move to Boston! I'm sick of living in the same place I grew up, I want to experience something different for awhile.. something that will terrify me and make me grow up and know what it really is to be an adult. I feel like I'm not really learning anything about life here at home, and if I were to move out I wouldn't learn anything still because if I ever got in trouble or lost or something, my mom's here to save me. Although I love her, I need to be on my own.

And tennis.. tennis has been surprising me just a bit lately. I've watched a ton of it, hours and hours, and half the time the people I expect to win don't come out on top. Yet.. Safin's making this amazing comeback and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he'll be playing next year. I love Safin. I'm so into it we even have the Tennis Channel, hah.

For awhile, I wanted to go to college to be something interesting and different like an anthropologist. Of course I was interested in the subject, but it wasn't enough to keep me enrolled. I've changed my major several times, and I've grown tired with watching the list grow. I figure I should go back and get that boring (and useful) business degree so many other people end up with.

There's a lack of occult-related greeting cards, so I decided to make my own. Here's what I came up with.

These are just general cards for everyday use. First with the Ankh, then the Eye of Horus, then the pentacle.

Andy Murray

So, this is old news. US Open series news, but I haven't updated in so long that it doesn't matter. I always knew I would love anyone who could beat Roger Federer (#1 in the world currently), which is definitely part of the reason why I love Rafael Nadal. I realize Federer's an awesome player and deserves a ton of respect, he definitely has mine, I just like to see him defeated.

I didn't like this guy Murray at first. I watched him do well at Wimbledon without a coach, then ends up getting a famous coach who brought both Agassi and Roddick to fame and fortune, and although I felt like I knew him and his style well I didn't really care for him. That changed August 16. Thank something for DVRs, I've watched the last few points where Murray beat Federer six times now.

And right this moment, I'm watching Agassi vs Becker. It's the US Open, Agassi's last tournament, and this kid I've never heard of took the first set. I'm also checking up on Safin vs Nalbandian. Go Agassi, go Safin.
We'll see.

Four pocket tote

Expect more! We have one in stripes already in progress that will probably be finished and put on Etsy sometime this month. Considering we aren't very into cute things ourselves, it's kind of interesting the majority of the fabrics we buy are cutesy. We've made some wonderful (and secret!) new items which will be released later this month that are more our style. Although we're beginning to focus on less cute items, you can expect to see more of the style we've been creating as well as this new and secret stuff.

Also! Apologies for the lack of updates both on this blog and in the shop. We both work long hours and have been busy with so much within the past month that we haven't had time for as much crafting as we'd like. The creating has become a daily thing yet again though, so you can expect to see a lot more from us soon.

This was my first with the ribbon/thank you design:

My mom made another bag. It's decorated with rick rack and a felt flower on a cute striped fabric. The inside has two pockets. I carry a bag of this style myself and love it. :)
And a custom wallet for a nice person on Etsy. It's made of the same fabric to match the bag she bought, includes an inside pocket, cute snap, and the same felt flower detail as on the bag.

Tons of pouches are waiting around to be added. This one was sent out with an Etsy purchase from our shop. It matches this bag perfectly.
There's also a laptop sleeve, which is large enough to fit my 15.4" laptop. Ignore the silly photo? Hah.

We decided to retake photos of both of the pixie purses, which I'm modeling. It's a smaller bag design, which is great for anyone who only carries what she needs. Plus, it looks cute either across the body or over the shoulder.

This is another of our new bag styles, it's taller, thinner.. and is sort of a tote but not really. The interfacing allows it to hold a shape, but still be soft. It will soon be available in different fabrics.

These earrings are swarovski crystals with sterling silver earwires, too bad I don't have my ears pierced or I'd wear them myself. :)
Also, an update on this blog for anyone who isn't a tennis fan or didn't watch the men's Wimbledon final, Rafa lost. :(

It's 4:45am, I'm a night owl. I should be working some middle of the night hotel job, but instead I've stayed up on the internet, as usual. The hotel job would definitely be more productive. I'm not sure if this is considered a sleep disorder or I just feel like ignoring my body urging me to sleep. Either way, I should probably put an end to it.

What's especially weird is I love mornings. I love waking up early and watching the Tyra Banks show, having coffee, and reading celebrity news online from my usual websites (The Superficial, Go Fug Yourself, A Socialite's Life, Hollywood Tuna, Perez Hilton). I enjoy having an entire day ahead of me, and lately I wake up late. Like, 2pm late. It's not my favorite. And here I am, awake, and it's nearly 5am. Again.

Updates

Gosh, I sure haven't updated in awhile.. tons of things to say and show though. End of this month we have a wedding to attend. Day after that we're headed off to Arizona, and we're staying here. It's gorgeous, I'm entirely excited. It's basically the same yearly trip to a boring place, but I love hotels (and especially resorts!) and leaving home every once in awhile, so it's worth getting excited about.

On to the crafts. There are some bags finished, some experimental (not sure if I should post those...) and others are the same designs. First up, a cute and simple tote bag with those original outside pockets (our pattern!), made of navy canvas with a cute contrast fabric that's also pretty durable. The tote is interfaced, has no inside pockets, the inside fabric matches that of the pockets.

Next, a cute tote made of black canvas and a cute durable pink fabric. This one has two very large pockets inside, and none out. It's very sturdy and made well for everyday use, as are all of our bags.

The next pattern, as seen for the first time here, has been made in different fabrics! I just love the pink one, but I'm also partial to the stripes. It's always wonderful when it's hard to choose favorites, means everything is about equally wonderful.
We've removed some of the headbands, leaving only the one that ties in the back. Lots more card designs on the way, but you're going to have to wait until my next blog to see any of those. :) I promise they're going to be wonderful though.

We recently tried cardmaking for the first time, and honestly, it's a lot more fun than I imagined. We bought all sorts of decorative paper, cardstock, stamps, ink, pens, and made a day of it. These are only a few of our designs, more to come later. Also, we're probably getting back into sewing this week or weekend, so check back for new bags (and possibly even a new style, we might try something other than to te s and messengers). Unmade

I didn't make anything. I thought about it, but instead I spent the day organizing my album list. I made that post today, but changed the date so it wouldn't take up so much room on the main page. Then I worked on figuring out what cds I have on my computer (I love having itunes on shuffle), so I was ripping and burning to make sure my car cd cases are up to date.. and hours later, I'm still not done. I can't stand the thought of having original cds in my car, so I always burn copies. I'm apparently great at scratching them up, and I'd be upset if my original copies were ever stolen.

We ordered business cards from VistaPrint, and they came in awhile ago. Then, they offered return address stickers and a notepad with your business and url. We now have those too.

Plus I added one of those flickr flash image things to the side column.

I don't really have any pictures to add now, but I'm thinking of putting something together later tonight, who knows what. Or maybe I'll just play Guild Wars. We'll see.

Animal and flower totes

Two totes have been completed, and are for sale. This first is a cute faux fur animal print in aqua with a coordinating aqua fabric lining. This bag is made of sturdy black canvas, a soft animal print exterior, and the inside is duck cloth.

This bag has a fun floral print and the outside curves (on both sides) are pockets. The interior is the same fabric as the pockets, and it is made of sturdy canvas with interfacing.

I was on the regular websites last night, and came across several pieces I'd really love to have, which inspired me to create an outfit. Looks comfortable and summery, maybe I'll purchase it. I have an old Levi's wallet right now with a coin pocket on the outside, which unzips itself way too easily and gets coins all over my purse. Annoying, and I'm ready for an update. Anyway, onto the new options.

Dress

I have black and grey striped knit fabric, nearly identical to the fabric used in this dress. I was going to use it to make either a summer dress or a tunic, which is somewhat odd. So, next huge project for myself is to make this dress out of the fabric I already own, and if there's any left over I might make a tunic too. We'll see. Expect a picture of the results within a month or so.

Fashion missions

We have decided to put the previous tote and messenger designs aside, and work on coming up with something new. Expect to see new bag designs within the next few weeks. Right now I'm working on a necklace, there's a bracelet ready to list (might put it up later tonight on Etsy), the 'felt ginger' projects are still coming along, and we have some brooches in progress. So, you can expect several new items to be added in the near future. I'm excited!

I found Rate My Bunny earlier today, and it's hilarious. Also, StuffOnMyCat is great. It's probably about time I stop looking at cute animals on the internet, and work on the previously mentioned projects.

I watched some show on BBC America where they take people and they make them dress entirely different for a week. These people get to wear incredibly odd outfits, such as an outfit one woman wore that was entirely yellow -bag, shoes, hat, everything) and it changed their behavior and self-esteem for the day. So, I decided to have my own fashion missions. I realized there were pieces I hardly wore because I didn't feel like taking the effort in the morning to figure out what to wear with them, so I'd force myself into it. And also, I sometimes feel goofy wearing anything semi-dressy.

These were my fashion missions, and their outcomes.
--Week #1: Wear heels everyday for the entire week.

Outcome: Since I don't wear my heels very often, my feet were damaged by day three and I couldn't continue.

--Week #2: Wear anything but jeans for the entire week.
Outcome: Took advantage of my skirts, capris, shorts, and enjoyed wearing something different.

I meant to keep this up for a month, but ran out of ideas as to what my next 'fashion mission' should be.

The missions may or may not be logged in MSD, I tend to be bad at updating it daily so there are days where I'll upload a ton of photos.

Wardrobe updates

I finally got my Randy wedges, only to realize they're too small! My toes hang off the edge and it's not pretty, so I've returned them for a larger size. Hopefully when I get the correct-sized wedges, I'll love them and wear the everything out of them.

I ordered these boots off Ebay awhile ago, and I am so in love with them. The seller didn't note it, but these are actually from Chadwick's. Since the website is sold out of any I would have wanted, I'm glad I found them on Ebay. I have the brown in suede.

And to further udpate on shoes, I lost the auction for these. :(

Oh, and I bought these months ago (and had the picture up before I lost all my blog entries), and since I love them so much I decided to post the picture again. They were $20, on sale from $80, at Delia's.

I also recently bought five new pairs of jeans, a longsleeve AE shirt, an A&F sweater, a ton of items I got around my birthday, a few new necklaces, a black and white hoodie, gold heels, turquoise flats, and possibly a few other things.. I'll take pictures later. Maybe someday I'll try saving for an external hard drive for my laptop or something, I'm sure I don't need all these clothes anyway.

Headbands

In the past week or two, we've been working on cute headbands made from fabric we already own. We own so much fabric in so many fun prints I think I should just take a picture of all of it, too. Anyway, these are the headbands we came up with so far. (Each picture is clickable and can be made larger.)

There's only one that ties in the back, the rest have a small strip of elastic. They can be purchased here.

Luella for Target is on clearance. This bag is adorable and only 20.99!

And this picture was on the Target website in the Luella clearance section, I just like the picture. Cute outfit, in my opinion.

I never liked Old Navy much, but upon recently visiting the website, I noticed this feature. It allows you to view by outfit, which gives inspiration and also makes me want to shop there. I've only ever owned maybe four Old Navy items, but I may have to change that. Their clothes used to bore me but they're looking really cute now. Also, I'm in love with this top (24.50). The print, the cut, the style, everything.

I keep finding new things to blog about since having to recreate the whole thing from nothing.

Anyway... I love these shoes so much! There are many stores I check out all the time, but I'm partial to Alloy, Delia's, and GoJane because they're more in my price range. These are here and come in black, brown (pictured), and natural. GoJane actually sold out of most sizes a month or two ago, I'm glad they restocked.

Seeing red

Lately I have this 'obsession' with vintage and red shoes. (And Ebay of course.) So.. I was looking at Delia's again. Lovely red flats there:

I may just bid on the ebay shoes, but I can't get over how much I love those Delia's flats. The ones from Ebay have a lot more character though, I think. Oh, decisions.

Garden

Went outside to see how everything's doing and thought I'd take a few pictures. A few weeks ago we made raised plant beds (or whatever they're called) out of wood with netting to cover them. One of them is doing a lot better than the other.

This one had everything planted first with Miracle Gro.

This one was planted a month after the previous, and you can see that the plants have grown a lot better. What's weird, is this one uses cheaper dirt and no Miracle Gro.

And, since one of the dogs joined me outside, I took a few pictures of him as well. This one turned out nicely.

In crafty-related news, there's a new bracelet up on Etsy that I made. Here it is! We have six totes in progress and four messsengers. I think we'll work on finishing the totes first, so expect to see new bags up within the next week or so.

I've really enjoyed looking at all the nautical-themed things for this season. Even though it's apparently some hot trend this season, I haven't actually seen many people flaunting it. Anyway, since Delia's is one of my favorite shops, I checked there first. This is what I love:Cute anchor flats for $26 found here. I've been trying to find more navy things to add to my wardrobe, so I might just buy these. Maybe a bit too casual though.

This shirt's cute, could look good plain with jewelry and jeans, or under a blazer. I'm not sure I'd buy it, but it's nice to look at. It's $28 here.

I looked for things on Alloy and Target but didn't find much I like. Also did some window shopping at Anthropologie, too bad I can't afford $58 tees.

New bag and jewelry

This awesome tote was made yesterday and is already on Etsy.

It's made of black canvas with a good amount of interfacing, good stitching, and a fun striped fabric for the accents. The curved part of the front and back (it looks the exact same from each side) is actually a pocket. There are no interior pockets, but with two outside pockets I don't find that a problem. Just like the summer tote, I'm having a problem not keeping this bag for myself. More pictures can be found at the Etsy listing.

We have also had more fun making jewelry, and have come up with this marvelous marble bracelet. There's more information on it at the Etsy shop.

These next earrings are nearly like the previously made green swarovski earrings, but an extra bead has been added at the bottom, and they are of course, blue. :) They're so gorgeous I wish I had my ears pierced. The metals are sterling silver, while the beads are swarovski.

So, about a minute ago, I accidentally deleted my blog. The whole thing. And now, I'm going to try and recreate the posts, which are probably all going to have the same date.. but at least I'll still have some sort of log for the crafts and whatever I posted about before.

Edit: Since I still had the front page of posts open in another tab, I was able to just copy and paste, which easily saved a few posts. Sad about the rest of them though, I had 15-20.

Jewelry

We never wanted to be just a bag store, it's more fun to make all sorts of fun things. Problem is, we make a ton of these fun things all the time, and they never make it to Etsy. I'm proud to announce that we've added jewelry and there is much more (jewelry and more!) on the way. There are two pair of earrings available, and I think they're gorgeous.

These are made with green swarovski crystals, sterling silver metals, and are overall just gorgeous. If I had my ears pierced, I would want to wear them.

The next pair is actually recycled from beads that used to be a bracelet, so nothing as special as the first pair, but I love them just the same:

I had a birthday recently, April 15. I had ordered some pants online, which just happened to show up that day. Pretty exciting. Also, I got more clothes later, and went out to lunch with my mom. :) Good day.

Since I lately found out just how much fun one can have on ebay, I've spent so much time searching for stuff. By 'stuff' I mostly mean shoes. A week or so ago, I won these fabulous shoes! They came in recently, I'm in love with them. Really comfortable too, which I've actually never found in anything with a heel before.

Summer tote

This bag was just made, and it's so fun! I love the fabrics, the style, everything. It's actually up for sale on Etsy but I want to keep it for myself. I just fell in love with it immediately. The front angle there is actually a pocket, and while there are no interior pockets (I never bother with them anyway), I think the outside pocket is great and big enough to fit necessities and some extras.

Travel-obsessed

I'll admit, one of my favorite things about watching television is the travel commercials. I've had a thing for this New Zealand commercial ever since I first saw it:

Also, there used to be a Travel Alaska commercial up months ago, but I haven't seen it played in awhile. I emailed TA in January to ask if they would ever put the commercial online, TA emailed back and said they would, but I guess it never made it to the website. The song went like this:

They heard her voice calling..
"Come and see..
If you can't find me, can't find me
I'll have gone... To Alaska."

I really wish they still played it. Back when it was on, I had this obsession with one day moving to Alaska, realizing that I would probably die because it must be freezing up there and I'm a Texan. For a year or two now, I've wanted to live in New Zealand. I expect one day it's going to happen.

After years of talking to my mom about how we could possibly make a business out of the things we make, she agreed to open a shop on Etsy. So, I present to you, Ebraunnagel! The name's pretty meaningful to her, and trying out an online business (even if through Etsy right now) is important to me. I'm glad we've taken this step, and I hope we'll have tons of interesting things in the future. For now, the main mission is creating bags.

So, I've decided to start this blog to post pictures of things I make and write about whatever else I feel like. :) I have always been a crafty girl, making bracelets and all sorts of things or altering old items to give them new life. I only recently started posting on craft forums, and noticed a lot of people have their own craft blog, so I want to start one as well. You can expect pictures of new products, random writings, and maybe even somewhat embarassing photos of crafts gone wrong.

I can't remember why I started using the name "kiwicrew" or "kiwicraft", but I'm no Kiwi. I'm from Texas and have lived here all my life, though I do wish I was from New Zealand.
